Make the fire, fix the breakfast!
Wash the dishes!
And the sweeping!And the dusting!
They always keep her hopping the work song | cinderella
Since moving into my own little land in a little building on a little street,I've learned a few lessons.
Like:
- When you lock a door you need a key to open the lock. So make sure you have said key.
- If you don't buy toilet paper, it won't magically appear when you need it!
- If you don't go grocery shopping, your fridge will be empty. As will your stomach.
I've also learned that their are some brands of cleaning/house supplies that I LOVE.
Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Products!(seriously, please go here and look at their website.I was very inspired in making mine. There are videos! Cute ones! Hurry! Scoot! Click!)
Mrs. Meyers Dish Soap.Doesn't it just sound wonderful to say?The branding is fabulous, the smells are fabulous, the design is fabulousAND IT ACTUALLY CLEANS THINGS.And I think the winner of the contest should have my favorite Mrs. Meyers Product.
So, today, tell me your favorite cleaning/organizing/neat-ness acheiving product OR tip!
(ps. Contest is half over! Eek!)

Trader joes has awesome pop up sponges. They come in a pack of 6 and are super substantial. I aaaadore them
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite cleaning product is Lysol. I'm not sure why...but I kinda came to that conclusion today while I was cleaning. =)
ReplyDeleteI love pretty much all of Method's body and cleaning products. :) Their sweet water liquid hand soap smells so good and their glass and surface cleaners are the best ever. Plus they use minimal ingredients and cut out many harmful chemicals so that's a major plus. :)
ReplyDeleteI love lysol too--It's smells so good and I'm always convinced my bathroom is clean after using it.
ReplyDeleteI also love our vacuum cleaner (my dog would be scandalized--she's terrified of it!) but it makes such a difference in making a room feel truly clean.
brillo pads. they rock.
ReplyDeleteDitto Hope - I love Method cleaners too! Pink Grapefruit is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThe magic eraser...it's amazing for getting stains out!
ReplyDeleteI love cleaning. The only thing I don't like about cleaning is doing dishes. So if anyone has any tips to make it more bearable, please share!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, my favorite cleaning activity would be a tie between doing the laundry and sweeping. Both of those make such a difference in the way a room feels and looks.
The magic eraser....its amazing to remove stains!
ReplyDeletefor someone who is far from organized...i love storage bins! when a friend or family is coming over, i can just throw all of my stuff into them and make it seem like im organized :]
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely have to say my vacuum! Could barely live without it - now i'm super in love with it since i have a german shepherd pup that likes to leave his hair everywhere! It even has an attachment to vacuum the furniture if hair sneaks on the couch or something.
ReplyDeleteClorox bleach wipes - use them on anything :)
ReplyDeleteThis might sound like a cop out, but a dishwasher has become much more important to me since mine broke and I've had to do everything by hand. Must. Get. Another. One. Soon.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound strage, but I like using vinegar with my laundry sometimes! I cloth-diapered my daughter, and vinegar in the pre-wash helped make stinky diapers new again. And it is always cheap; I don't really have any brands I love yet because I still buy whatever is on sale :-).
ReplyDeleteMy BFF has a little business called Shaklee products. She gave me a sample and I LOVE IT!! it's a little drop of magicalness in a bottle of H20 and it works on EVERYTHING, from the bathroom to the kitchen sink. Plus, it's a Green initiative. OH!! And a vacuum...I don't know why, but anytime I vacuum everything feels so much better. It's like a stress relief to vacuum. I could roll around on my floor for days when it's vacuumed...not that I would do that or anything. ;) I'm weird and I love to clean.
ReplyDeleteI just love cleaning with anything lavender scented. So fresh and feminine smelling! Fabulosa is one of the best!
ReplyDeleteAnd a cleaning tip I am always hearing from my mom: let your dishes soak a bit before washing them. Even just a couple minutes will save time scrubbing. I hate washing dishes that have dried scum on them!
Windex. I think you can clean just about anything with it..
ReplyDeleteNothing too special here, but I think clorox wipes work the best! Oh and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers! They are exactly what they say they are: Magic!! Amazing product!
ReplyDeleteI love these little handy things called Miracle sponges. They can take away pretty much ANY smudge or blemish on most hard-surface things like counters or door frames. They truly do work miracles. =)
ReplyDeleteI love Method products. As for keeping your hands clean--- Method's grapefruit hand soap is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cleaning products are the ones I make myself! I've mix equal parts isopropyl alcohol and water and use it to clean mirrors, counter tops, floors, etc. I also make batches of my own laundry detergent from baking soda, borax, and grated dove soap. It's quick and easy to make and super cheap! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Arm & Hammer toothpaste! I love it so much, I would tell the world about it in a commercial :)
ReplyDeleteomisoul - scrubbing . bubbles :)
ReplyDeleteit may not be the best cleaner in the whole world, but when i moved into my own house - i had trouble cleaning my bathroom with any other product. maybe its because that's all my mom used, or maybe its the fabulous way it bubbles [!] but i didn't have any - and i HAD to run out to the store to buy some because, well its awesome :)
Trader Joes sells this WONDERFUL, natural, all-purpose cleaner. It's called "Next to Godliness". I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the Magic Eraser. It works on a lot of different stains and marks on walls.
ReplyDeleteyou mean other than my mother? just kidding, but Ajax (the stuff in the can that you shake out) I swear by that stuff it will clean your bathroom good. or oxyclean
ReplyDeleteTip: Cleaning out the hair in the drain in your tub WILL make it so you no longer have to shower in two feet of water! ;) Haha.
ReplyDeletethe swiffer wet jet...its fantastic because it gets the dust and dirt and it mops all at once!
ReplyDeleteMy Tide/Bleach pen!! I always have one in my purse as well as under the sink. Cleans absolutely anything: clothes, stains, mold buildup... aaaanyyyything! i love 'em.
ReplyDeleteTip: If someone spills red wine on your carpet (or on you for that matter) dump a bunch of salt on the stain and blot with seltzer water. Important to blot, not rub. And go kinda nuts with quantities of both salt and seltzer, especially for a large spill. Blot and blot and blot, and let the bubbles and the salt work their magic. Leave it till it dries and vacuum it up in the morning. What stain?? I don't see a stain!
ReplyDeleteI love purging. Getting rid of clutter and STUFF… so exciting!
ReplyDeleteAs for cleaning activity, I like the result best… and I like products that smell good and citrus-y, like lemon or grapefruit.
definitely windex. the stuff is just helpful.
ReplyDeleteI clean at a Bed and Breakfast, and my favorite products to use are Windex, Ajax, and this new stuff called Green Works. I like Green Works, because it smells like Sprite and it cleans really well. :D
ReplyDeleteDitto to all who said Clorox wipes...they are so convenient and effective for clean ups in the kitchen & bathroom.
ReplyDeletei don't know where i'd be without vacuum cleaners, so i'll have to put that as my favorite. :)
ReplyDeletei don't know where i'd be without vacuum cleaners, so i'll have to put that as my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteI want a Dyson vacuum cleaner. I can't tell you how much. But since this about a cleaning item I already have... I'd have to say clorox bleach.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I clean my room, I decide to count up a certain number.. for example, 20 things. It's a mental distraction that helps me stay a little more on task :)Do that a few times and soon the room will be spic and span!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE swiffers. A) They are so much fun! B) My pup is intrigued by them. C) And it makes me want to clean!
ReplyDeleteI suppose this is an organization tool. I HATE having millions of tiny pieces of paper lying all around my work space, but I have trouble remembering things so I need some tool to help keep my thoughts organized. Solution: the Sticky Note option on my HP laptop. Let paper, less, clutter, happy Patti.
ReplyDeleteLove you blog by the way! I found it by way of Lydia Hartnett (she photographed my wedding!)

ReplyDeletei love everything method brand!
ReplyDeletelaura, info@laurabarnesphoto.com
My favorite soaps are by Method. They are biodegradable and have worked great for me so far! I have the hand, dish, and body soap! They also make other cleaning products which are good for the environment.
ReplyDeleteWhen I graduated my friend gave me a reusable "tv dinner" dish full of desk supplies. I still use it to this day to organize everything. Best organization idea ever.
ReplyDeleteDyson Ball vacuum for animal and allergen reducer. BEST thing ever invented! I seriously vacuum everyday thats how much i love it.
ReplyDeletei love the cascade 2 in 1 action pacs for my dishwasher... someone it's so much easier to force myself to load the dishwasher if all i have to do is throw in one of those action pacs!
ReplyDeleteI guess my favorite product to use would be my laundry detergent. Oh the joys of fresh-smelling clothes!
ReplyDeleteGoo Gone is probably my favorite cleaning agent. It's fantastic for getting rid of that nasty residue left after a stubborn sticker is removed from something.
ReplyDeleteMethod cleaning supplies and soaps! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI love using window cleaner to clean mirrors...they're so much clearer afterwards!
ReplyDeleteMagic erasor! Haha it works wonders on everthing! :)
ReplyDeleteBaking soda is really awesome - it's natural (no chemicals, yay!!) AND it works. I use it on all the sinks, tubs, and even the tough spots on the floors.
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens, I can't live without Clorox wipes.
ReplyDeleteThe end.

Mix all and use as needed :)
The Magic Eraser IS amazing!
I remember falling in love with the Mr. Eraser. It is magic!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cleaning item would be pledge multipurse cleaner...it works for everything wood, windows, & electronics, etc. Such a simple thing
ReplyDeleteSpray Nine. My husband uses it in the garage at his work to clean grease etc. and we use it at home on our sponges and knives and anything we need disinfected. sounds strange i know.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite "neatness" item would have to be philosophy's "purity" facial cleanser. It smells great, is very gentle on your skin, and has just the sweetest little message on the front of the bottle. :)
ReplyDeleteLysol wipes can be used for almost anything! Love em!
ReplyDeleteStorage bins. My family could not survive without them!
ReplyDeleteI like simply green. It always gets all the dirt and grass stains off of my shoes =)
ReplyDeleteScrubbing the shower/sink with powdered laundry detergent gets things sparkling white :)
ReplyDeleteMary Kay satin hands :) makes your skin nice and clean and soft at the same time!
ReplyDeleteshout.. haha i need a lot of it!! :)
ReplyDeletelysol wipes for when im in a hurry! lol
ReplyDeleteClorox wipes are soooo handy!! And gotta love Soft Scrub! It makes my kitchen sink look brand spanking new every time! :)
ReplyDeleteLysol antibacterial kitchen spray. Works on everything. Even permanent marker that my twins got a hold of one day... on our brand new dining table. :)

ReplyDeletemagic erasers and vinegar on metal spouts!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm such a neat freak, so I have lots of storage/neatness items, too many to count! But, I've wanted to try Mrs. Meyers for a while since I've seen it all over blogland and nobody has anything bad to say. Right now my favorite cleaning item is the Clorox wipes...I keep them all over the house so they are always handy when I need to wipe something down. No more running downstairs to grab the paper towels and spray bottle!
ReplyDeleteMiracle soap! It is a cleaning solution for almost everything--and even can be used as shampoo!
ReplyDeleteOh lord, I love cleaning products. Favorite thing? Swiffer Dust and Shine :) I don't know why, maybe the commercials built an association with Swiffer = happy-dancing-cleaning-time for me, but I absolutely love the stuff.
ReplyDeleteOrganizing tip: a place for everything and everything in it's place, preferably tucked or hidden away or contained somehow. I'm still working on that one though... no, the tabletop does not count as my "stack of papers" spot!
ReplyDeletecontainers/baskets/bags that double as decoration and storage.. so when i have like 5 baskets storing all my junk, they look like nice neat decor!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite by far is our sponge. We get a special sponge that has a handle which doubles as a soap dispenser that slowly leaks it onto what you're washing. I can' go back to a sponge!
ReplyDeleteDon't get behind!
ReplyDeleteI really like Dawn soap, it all ways makes lots of bubbles :)
ReplyDeletePine Sol. hooo my gosh that stuff smells delicious.
ReplyDeleteKarmalades coconut macaroom cleaning souffle! (she sells them on etsy, but I get them at the farmers market) The only problem is that it smells so good you want to eat it!
